The Guinness world record for the greatest distance by kart in 24 hrs outdoors is 2, 056.7 km (1, 277.97 miles) achieved by the team Equipe Vitesse.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the greatest distance by kart in 24 hrs outdoors (individual): 1, 152.54 km (716.15 miles) achieved by Myk Prescott (South Africa).
Organized by the Linde Material Handling company, a German warehouse truck producer, the attempt took place as a part of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club Gran Turismo Masters Weekend, an auto-racing competition supported by the German ADAC automotive club.
The record-breaking electric kart, or e-kart, is called the Linde E1 and was produced specifically for the attempt. Its drive unit is the same as the units used in lift trucks, except that Linde E1 has a lithium ion battery and lift trucks use lead acid batteries.
The speeds clocked in at 3.4 seconds on the first run and 3.5 seconds on the second run.
Guinness World Records judges determined the final figure of acceleration based on an average of the runs, making 3.4 the new record to beat for the fastest 0-to-60-mph acceleration by an electric kart.
